Banning, CA

Banning, California is located between the cities of Riverside to the west and Palm Springs to the east within easy commuting distance of Redlands, Riverside, Highland, and San Bernadino. The climate here is typically Southern Californian, but slightly milder due to the city's elevation. It is surrounded by picturesque mountains, some of which, like San Gorgonio Mountain, are snow-capped almost year round. Additionally, Joshua Tree National Park, visited by 1.4 million people each year, is located less than an hour away.

Real Estate

For considering buying a home or making a real estate purchase in Banning, the cost of housing is extremely variable, ranging from about $60,000 to more than $2 million. The majority of houses in this area have two or three bedrooms along with 2 or three baths. A few larger homes have up to six bedrooms or seven baths. Vacant real estate lots are in the $10,000 to $40,000 price range, depending on their size, quality, and location within the city.

Homes for sale at the lower end of the range are generally smaller without extensive yards or landscaping. Some of them were built in the 1930s through 1950s; however, many have been renovated at least once during the intervening years. Some in this range are foreclosures or short sales. Single-story buildings with stucco facades are common. Many include a single car garage, some of which have been enclosed for additional home space.

At the other end of the spectrum, real estate priced from $400,000 and up, are houses with many amenities or large land lots. Many of these have the more traditional Spanish-style and adobe appearance common to Southern California. Craftsman is another popular style here. Partial basements, elaborate entrances, and mountain views are popular special features for the luxury-level properties. Many of these are also older houses, built prior to 1950, but have been lovingly maintain through the decades.

Community

The city also includes gated communities geared toward those who are fifty-five and older. These communities often container newer and easier to maintain houses at lower prices for those who qualify. Country club homes are also available in golf and tennis communities with numerous amenities intended to interest active families and young professionals.

The majority of properties for sale in Banning are along the I-10 corridor, with easy access to the interstate highway, which many resident use to commute to San Bernadino and its suburbs of Highland and Redlands.
